It’s like 30 Rock and the Producers with a dash of the Twilight Zone!

“THE KONG SHOW ON TV!” BACKSTORY/THE THEATER YEARS
It all started in the East Village as “Contrast & Juxtaposition” as an actor’s and writer’s workshop at Planet One Café. After 2 years there it then became “Cometry!” an evening of comedy, poetry and variety, then at the Undercroft Coffeehouse in Queens.

Then, Manhattan beckoned! Moving to Danny’s Skylight Cabaret as “Chock Full O’ Nutz.” The Sage Theater was the next stop and “American Midol” was born

The next stop on the journey would be the Iguana VIP Lounge for a three-year run as “The Kong Show!” with rave reviews!

Then writer, producer Powell Leonard sat down to imagine a TV show, More than just sketch, More than just stand up, More than you can Imagine!

And a show within a show, “The Kong Show on TV!,” was born!

Set in KNG-TV studio, somewhere in New York City “The Kong Show on TV,” features the behind-the-scenes antics of the wacky cast and crew of KNG-TV! As billionaire Maroney Sparks (Rik Sansone) plots the demise of his own TV station, KNG-TV, with his accomplice, station manager Madison Lynne (Ella Louise). To their disbelief “The Kong Show on TV,” a wacky variety show hosted by Chuck E. Baby (Powell Leonard), and Madison Lynne’s ditzy twin, Miz E., has become wildly popular. Outrageous behind-the-scenes antics follow. Hilarity ensues!

Powell Leonard has made appearances both on stage, on TV, and also as a character in a video game. He’s a dancer, a musician, and an artist of unusual talents. He once had a gig that consisted of being covered in full-body plaster, and subsequently he became a full set of mannequins that can be seen signing the Declaration of Independence in the Philadelphia History Museum. In New York City, he remains a man of many hats. An actor, writer, producer, and MC of the biggest little vaudeville-style comedy variety show in town “The Kong Show” live on stage, featuring some of New York’s most amazing performers. “The Kong Show on TV!” webseries is his latest endeavor,

Ella Louise is an actress and a poet who has made appearances both on stage and on TV. She has appeared at comedy clubs throughout the NYC area. A former child actress, she once appeared in a Girl Scout cookie commercial with the Brady Bunch’s Ann B. Davis. On “The Kong Show on TV!” she is that force of nature and fun frantic antics that is ‘Mz. E. with a Z.’ Former belly dance instructor, roller derby queen, now devoting her time to co-hosting the biggest little vaudeville style/comedy variety show on KNG-TV.
